چکیده

(1996) Vibration modes and acoustic noise in a four-phase switched reluctance motor. Abstruct-Acoustic noise in the switched reluctance motor (SRM) is caused primarily by the deformation of the stator lamination stack. Acoustic noise is most severe when the periodic excitation of the SRM phases excites a natural vibration mode of the stack. The natural vibration modes and frequencies of a four-phase, 8/6 SRM are examined. Structural finite element analysis is used to compute the natural modes and frequencies. Impulse tests on the stator stack verify the calculations and show which modes are excited. Heuristic arguments are developed to predict the operating conditions that will excite the natural modes. Measurement of vibration while the machine is under load shows which operating conditions excite the natural modes and verifies the predictions. An approximate formula is derived to predict the frequency of the fundamental vibration mode in terms of lamination dimensions and material properties. The formula is validated by comparison with finite element calculations for several laminations, and hence is shown to be useful in design trade-off studies.

This paper presents a new control structure to reduce torque ripple in switched reluctance motor. Although SRM possesses many advantages in motor structure, it suers from large torque ripple that causes some problems such as vibration and acoustic noise. In this paper another control loop is added and torque ripple is de ned as an objective function. By using fuzzy sliding mode strategy, the DC...

A New Switched Reluctance Motor Design to Reduce Torque Ripple using Finite Element Fuzzy Optimization

This paper presents a new design to reduce torque ripple in Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM). Although SRM possesses many advantages in terms of motor structure, it suffers from large torque ripple that causes problems such as vibration and acoustic noise. The paper describes new rotor and stator pole shapes with a non-uniform air gap profile to reduce torque ripple while retaining its average ...

Vibro-acoustic measurements and techniques for electric automotive applications

In this study, noise and vibration measurements were carried out on a multi-phase 12/8 switched reluctance (SR) motor and analyzed with vibro-acoustic techniques. When evaluating the behavior of electric powertrains for automotive applications, it is necessary to perform a vibro-acoustic analysis, particularly in view of the acoustic comfort perceived by the driver and passengers. High frequenc...

Direct Torque Control of 5-Phase 10/8 Switched Reluctance Motors

A switched Reluctance motor (SRM) has several desirable features, including simple construction, high reliability and low cost. However, it suffers from large torque ripple, highly non-uniform torque output and magnetization characteristics and large noise. Several studies have succeeded in torque ripple reduction for SRM using Direct Torque Control (DTC) technique. DTC method has many adva...

Diagnosis of Different Types of Air-Gap Eccentricity Fault in Switched Reluctance Motors Using Transient Finite Element Method

This paper presents a method for diagnosis of eccentricity fault in a switched-reluctance motor (SRM) during offline and standstill modes. In this method, the fault signature is differential induced voltage (DIV) achieved by injecting diagnostic pulses to the motor windings. It will be demonstrated by means of results that there is a correlation between differential induced voltage and eccentri...
